Print techniques in detail

DTF 3D

Enhanced DTF with additional layered thickness, creating subtle dimensional texture you can feel. The premium upgrade when a flat print won't carry the brand.

3D DTF builds on standard DTF with a foaming powder layer between the film and ink. Under heat, the layer lifts the print up off the fabric in a dimensional, raised emboss — closer to an embroidered patch than a flat print. Premium tactile look at a fraction of the cost of patch-making, and you keep DTF's full-color photo-detail capability.

Why pick this

DTF 3D

  • 01

Combines full color + 3D dimensional effect

  • 02

    Modern, premium appearance

  • 03

    Differentiates from standard prints

  • 04

    Ideal for fashion-forward branding

DTF 3D builds on standard DTF by adding a layer of expanding foam powder between the film and the ink. When heat is applied, that layer puffs up and lifts the print off the fabric into a tactile, three-dimensional emboss — closer to embroidery in feel than to a flat print, but with the full-color photographic range that DTF is known for. You still get gradients, multi-color artwork and photo-grade detail, just with a premium raised finish that costs noticeably less than producing a sewn-on patch. That combination is why streetwear labels and emerging fashion brands keep coming back for it when they need a collection to stand out on the shelf.

The technique pairs best with cotton and cotton-blend tees — Combed 20s/30s, Supersoft peachskin, and the heavier oversize blanks that can carry the weight of the raised layer cleanly. MOQ is the same as flat DTF: 10 pieces, no hard floor, which makes it realistic for short drops and limited capsules. Most orders ship 14-21 days after sample approval; basic tees often land in the 7-14 day window, and a +15-25% express fee is available when an event date is locked.

We run this in-house at our Nonthaburi factory — 27 years of OEM experience and over 200 brands produced for, including ThreeManDown and Lemon Curd. Every order includes one real sample on the actual fabric and film before bulk production begins, and we won't start the run until you sign it off. Per-unit pricing depends on artwork size, foam thickness and quantity, with price breaks at 30, 100, 300 and 1,000+ pieces.

Best fits

  • Raised logos for streetwear and fashion drops
  • Limited-edition capsule pieces that need a premium finish
  • Band merch and fan-club tees
  • Hoodies and oversize blanks where the artwork should pop
  • Typography and lettering meant to be seen from a distance

FAQ

How high does DTF 3D actually raise, and can it still print full-color?
The lift is tunable via the foam powder — from a subtle tactile rise to a bold emboss visible from the side — and you keep DTF's full-color photographic range and gradients.
How well does DTF 3D hold up in the wash?
Pressed to spec, the raised layer survives dozens of wash cycles. We recommend washing inside-out and avoiding direct ironing on the print to preserve the dimension.
What's the MOQ and lead time for DTF 3D?
MOQ starts at 10 pieces, same as standard DTF — no hard minimum. Lead time runs 14-21 days after sample approval; tees often ship in 7-14 days, with a +15-25% express option for tight events.
